Refund the tax payers.... President directs

Days after the #Thistaxmustgo demonstration, the President has come out to say that the mobile money users who have been taxed at 1% be refunded but was quick to add that the tax won't be scrapped off as it transfers a lot of money of the rich but small wise economic people.

The Mobile money tax has had many ups and down ,first when the minister of finance said that they had made mistake to levy a 1% tax instead of 0.5% but was surprised that the MPs had come to let the law pass.

Days after the implementation ,the president would also direct the tax be reduced to 0.5% citing a public outcry.

While responding to critics on the notorious social media platform Facebook, the president went on to agree with the public about how the government had been infiltrated by greedy pigs but.went on to assure the public how he was going to handle them.

"I signed the law with the error because we could not delay the other measures. However, Parliament, when it reconvenes, will be requested to correct it. The ones whose deductions had been made on the basis of 1% should have their money reimbursed" _ read part of the script

The tax sees a levy on every transaction carried out across the platform including payments, withdrawals on top of the service provider charges.

With the July 31st, deadline for the ban of airtime scratch cards approaches automatically means mobile money takes center stage as a mode of buying airtime like it has with the payment of a "twin" tax on OTT services.
All in all it seems either way the tax won't be dodged.
