The morning rains, sleep, work and the troubles of waking up

Recently I woke up feeling exhausted and tired. It was at around 5am and the downpour outside was heavy that I felt like going back to sleep. With many thoughts running through my head, I was puzzled as to whether to get up and prepare for work or to resume my sleep after all the singing and buzzing mosquitoes had made my night uncomfortable.

Seated on my bed, I started weighing on the two options that had pushed me into a state of dilemma - just a decision is all I needed. Each option had it benefits and consequences and let’s say I gangster opt for the latter and decided to stay in bed, it would mean more time in bed and more sleep which everyone of us would enjoy but the effects would be bitter looking that i would probably lose credibility to my bosses to perform no matter the sorts of excuses I put up for coming late or to the worst I would lose my job. Though sincerely no one can lose a job for just showing up late once.

But what did the former option hold, waking up and preparing to go to my work place. Not that I had quarreled or annoyed my bosses the previous day, look guys it was this windy kind of rain outside. imagine struggling through the mud, pot hole ku pot hole and finally reaching the office all dirty. Well I would have to first clean up myself and then get to work but on time which is kinda hectic infact more like showering twice in an hour time gap.

Though the benefits on the former don't look obvious and instant but they do exist. So I had to wake up amidst the cold and chilly morning, take that cold water shower ...yes ,power had gone the previous night when the first drizzle dropped and with all this dedication I even left without having breakfast. A recent graduate in me definitely owns no car but just an orange boda app on my phone with a pre loaded cash-they had opted not to give us transport cash directly but never the less we use it to buy airtime. On to my safeboda off I went and it was still raining…...Long story short by the time I arrived at office,my boss who was already there could hardly recognize me because I was all wet ,my shoes too were wet covered with mud. I had literally turned into a cow boy.

So I headed straight to the washrooms and cleaned up myself but of course I didn't look as smart as I were before I left home. Like a common saying goes, regardless I had to work.
As it clocked 11 am in the morning. the sun came out and it was another beautiful day .The guy who came to work shivering could now afford to put a smile on his face. My heart was now filled with joy cause I was now back to normal business as usual.
Though not the ending y’all expected as the writer was neither promoted nor given a pay rise but the…..

Moral of the story is

The start will always be hard, challenging and difficult times will come after you. They will tend to shadow you from the good things in the future and you may get tempted to take a shorter and easier route that yields short term happiness but that is not what you are meant for. You are meant for bigger things so do whatever it takes to get to the finish line if it means walking through the mud_do it, walking through the rain do it. Sacrifice means doing things you don't love. Personally I don't love showering on cold mornings but I had to do.
Never bow down to your challenges simply find away through the challenges, challenges and hardships are there to test our commitment, persistence, perseverance, determinations and above all our faith that the future is bright.
At the end of the day, the sun will come out bright and you will be filled with smiles as you enjoy the fruits of your hardwork.
