You Don't have to be a Geek to see the end of an Era of dominance.

Every time i sit down to watch television, let it be my favorite show, i will need to seat with a remote in my hands because of the number of adverts which are ran throughout the entire program. But I don't remember myself buying a product because i watched its 3 minute video on TV. This brings me to a bigger question,

Is it still relevant to pay huge sums of money for TV adverts let it be for the so called peak hours?
May be yes or May be No.

Going back to the most important communication revolution in history when Johannes Gutenberg invented printing with mechanical movable type which meant that books could be massively produced rather than handwriting copy by copy. Print enjoyed audience for some good time till radio poached away its audience. TV later also stole away the audience from radio.

As am writing this, the evolution of internet has overtaken all these in a very short time.
According to David Neerman Scott, the famous author of The New Rules of Marketing & PR

People purchase a mobile subscription before almost any other product, because connectivity is that important in their lives. In fact people have access to mobile phones than toothbrushes. More people have access to mobile phones than working toilets. The first thing people want to buy after they have earned enough to feed and shelter themselves is a mobile communications device.

If i ask you right now, where is your phone?
In your hands because you are using it to read this, in your pockets or in front of you at the table where you can see it.
Then where is your TV set?
Probably at home or in front of you if you happen to work in a fancy office.

TV advertising will soon be considered a luxury which should only be left to Big companies like Cocacola. Start ups and small companies can't afford this luxury, they need to embrace new ways of reaching out to their customers through the mobile phones and internet.

Even Abraham Maslow did not imagine that mobile connection would find itself in the hierarchy of needs. Mobile connection has created a two way communication between the company and its customers which we have been craving for, for a very long time. I can guarantee you that TV advertising is in its evening.
