Quest for spiritual significance
All is set as Christians from all walks of Uganda prepare to celebrate the June 3rd martyr's day celebrations.
Thousands and thousands of pilgrims from as far as kenya have already flocked the Namugongo basilica and more are still coming in prior to the celebrations on Sunday.
This year's Catholic celebrations at the martyrs shrine in namugongo will be led by the Tororo archidiocese pilgrims who arrived at the Shrine yesterday whereas at the Anglican Martyrs museum in Nakyiyingi will be led by the greater Kigezi.
The martyrs were killed under the orders of kabaka Mwanga for disobeying after they refused to denounce Christianity. Bishop Hannington became the first martyr as was killed in busonga on his way to Buganda reason being that he was entering from the back door.
Temporary businesses ranging from small retails dealing in the selling of calendars, home cutlery , second hand clothings, burning and copying gospel songs to phones as well as selling of Rosaries have also been established along the roads and within the gazetted shrine premises.

Food and restaurant businesses have also been set up with _*Chapati and Rolex*_ dominating the types of food available for the pilgrims.
Security around namugongo has been tightened and beefed up with physical deployment of both the military and police personnel.
The road to namugongo via Kyariwajara has been diverted to ease traffic and movements of pilgrims.
